Carol Ashton-Hergenhan holds a bachelor’s degree from the Philadelphia College of Art and attended Temple University’s Tyler School of Art, earning a masters’ degree in media. She returned to painting in 2010 after a career in corporate creative and communication management and studied botanical art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. A Master Gardener, plants have always been central to her art. She has been in more than 100 solo, group, juried and invitational botanical exhibits and national and international fine art juried shows.
Her work is in both private and institutional collections and is included in American Botanical Paintings, Native Plants of the Mid-Atlantic published in February 2014, and Just Paint Botanicals, published in 2020. She is a Fellow in the American Artists' Professional League, a Signature Member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society, an inducted member of the Philadelphia Sketch Club, a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators.
